'Nuffin Like a Puffin'

Would you believe it, Puffin books are 70 this year!
In celebration of this fact here are two things you might be interested in knowing:
  • "Puffin By Design: 70 Years of Imagination 1940-2010" by Phil Baines goes on sale from 27th May 2010. Full of fabulous images of Puffin books past & present and a great accompaniment to "Penguin By Design: A Cover Story 1935-2005" also by Phil Baines.  
  •  The 'Nuffin Like a Puffin' moto has been made into a song & short animated film. It's absolutely charming and there's a pretty strong chance that once viewed, you'll be singing it for days afterwards. Take a look here: 'Nuffin Like a Puffin'

Plus there is a biography of Kaye Webb which has just come out - by Valerie Grove - and there were some wonderfully evocative articles in this weekend's papers.

I was a deprived child and never allowed to be a member of the Puffin Club, despite reading anything I could. But my husband even went on the Puffin Club holidays, and helped out at the exhibitions.

You obviously visited my blog - puffinclubarchive as you used one of my restored images. The song was written for the club in the late sixties, and there was even a songsheet that was distributed to members. I have a couple of them that will one day make it onto the website.
