'Relaxing' in Minehead on a English Summer's day.
Mother with handbag grasped tightly on her lap. Father has thrown caution to the wind and hung his suit jacket over the back of deckchair. Evidence of 'a nice cuppa tea'.
Would love to tell you more about the postcard, the year it was taken and the background to Mansfield's of Minehead, but alas, cannot. The photograph was found in a pile of postcards from the 1980's in a junk shop near Malvern. Despite searching, information about Mansfield's of Minehead is not forthcoming. One can but wonder if Butlins was part of the Minehead experience for this family - or maybe they'd gone to stay at a respectable B&B? Either way, they all look happy and for this reason I knew I had to take the photo home with me...

I love this - I could look at other people's family photos and imagine their stories all day long!

Me too - ooh, the possible stories behind those pictures!
