Hidden Book Treasure No 6: Have You Still Got Your Beard?
It was delightful to find this envelope hiding in a very old, tatty edition of Odhams Encyclopedia for Children. It is covered in small pencil drawings of tumbling-locked women. Inside was a piece of foolscap with what looks like typing practice on it:
"Have you still got your beard now that you are in sunny climes? If not, I do hope that you will grow it back again before you return so that I will recognise you."
It's dated 15th December 1943...
